La Casona de Valladolid

Lovely lunch stop for our tour group, about halfway between Playa and Chichen Itza. There are lots of available seating. Good food and service. The buffet has lots of food variety and drink options.

Wow, what a feast! La Casona in Valladolid is an absolute gem, offering an incredible selection of local dishes that truly showcase the flavors of Yucatan. We especially loved the cochinita pibil, the rich mole negro, the refreshing aguas frescas, and the comforting pozole. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavor and clearly made with care. The restaurant itself is charming, beautifully maintained, and radiates a welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent—attentive and friendly, making our experience even more enjoyable. If you’re in Valladolid, don’t miss the chance to dine at La Casona. It’s a perfect blend of delicious food, great ambiance, and fantastic service!

We stopped here for lunch on our excursion to the Chichen Itza and it was fantastic! The buffet food was a standard up from that available at the resort; was well as being more authentically Mexican. The fountain outside was spectacular too, making it a nice setting to stop for food!

Incredibly delicious lunch stop for our tour group coming from Chichen Itza. It was the best, most authentic Mexican meal I’ve ever experienced and service was impeccable; like a traditional American, I didn’t want to leave/stop eating haha. Absolutely delicious food. They know how to make chicken for sure. Their green water was super refreshing. Service was super fast. Definitely try their pork slow underground cooked. Mole chicken was deliciius. Flan desert was super good as well

Quite a cool place with lots of character. This restaurant kind of transports you back in time. Visiting it is a must with lots of ample time on hand. Found the staff to be very attentive, eager to help and pleasingly mannered. The bar is well stocked and you also have quite a few options in non-alcoholic drinks as well. The buffet style food setting had numerous options including vegetarian food.

Beautiful atmosphere and great food!! They have a wide range of food options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. We tried their lunch buffet. Was a little skeptical about the vegetarian options before going but they were pretty tasty! Desserts were the best part! The atmosphere is amazing and felt very refreshing! The entire restaurant was well decorated. The outdoors seating arrangement was great and was filled with trees and there was perfect amount of shade to enjoy our meal. The service here was good too One thing I noticed in all the mexican places is they appear to be a small hangout spots from outside but after you enter, it’s a whole different experience in a good way!!
